Short Term Scientific Missions

Encouraging institutional exchange visits

Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) are exchange visits aimed at supporting individual mobility, strengthening existing networks and fostering collaboration between COST Action Participants. STSMs should specifically contribute to the scientific objectives of the COST Action, whilst at the same time allowing the grantees to learn new techniques, gain access to specific data, instruments and/or methods not available in their own institutions/organizations.

The first call will open on February 1, 2025.
Deadline May 15th, 2025

STSMs must respect the following criteria:

  • The STSM applicant and the Host institution are in different countries.
  • The minimum duration is 5 days, including travel.
  • There is no maximum duration, but an STSM must be carried out within a single Grant Period and there is a maximum financial support of €4000 per STSM.
  • The Grant applicant(s) are Action participants with a primary affiliation to a legal entity located in a COST Full or Cooperating Member country, a COST Near Neighbour Country or a European RTD Organisation
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a research program as a postgraduate student or postdoctoral fellow or be officially employed by a public or private institution (i.e., home institution).

Please note, SNOOPY selection policy promotes gender balance, geographical inclusiveness, and the participation of new members and Young Researchers and Innovators (under the age of 40).

An applicant must have a profile on the e-COST platform to prepare and submit the application. In addition, the SNOOPY STSM Grant application form will be available for download after you have registered your application in the e-COST platform.

Please note, when preparing your application, there must be a clear relationship between our action objectives and your activities mentioned in the application form.

Please include all of the following information and supporting documents:

  1. Application form, including a summary of the main scientific goals and need for the STSM (including relevance for the applicant, and benefit for the home/host institutions), a working plan, an explanation and justification for how the budget will be spent, as well as its expected outputs and contribution to the Action objectives and deliverables.
  2. Invitation/Agreement Letter: A letter signed by a senior researcher affiliated to the host institution detailing the aim, starting date, and duration of the STSM.
  3. Letter of Support: A letter signed by a senior researcher from the home institution confirming the STSM and its aim.
  4. Applicant’s CV: A full CV including a list of academic publications (English), max. 3 pages.

Conference Grants

ITC and YRI Conference & Dissemination Grants

Conference grants Call is now closed (until June)

Supporting international meetings participation and SNOOPY dissemination

Three different types of grants are foresight to attend international scientific meetings that are not organized by SNOOPY:

  • Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITC) Conference Grants, limited to researchers and innovators (preferably under the age of 40) with a primary affiliation to a legal entity located in a COST ITC and Near Neighbour Countries (NNC).
  • Young Researchers and Innovators (YRI)* Conference Grants, limited to young researchers and innovators (under the age of 40).
  • Dissemination Conference Grants, open to any Action participant with a primary affiliation to a legal entity located in a COST Full or Partner Member country, a COST Near Neighbour Country or a European RTD Organisation.

Applicants must have an invitation for an oral presentation at a high-level conference (*for YRI poster presentations are accepted as well) fully organized by a third party and NOT organized by the COST Action. The grantee receives support for attending and presenting their work to establish new contacts for future collaborations.

ITC and YRI Conference Grants are aimed to contribute to the overall travel, accommodation, registration fees, and meal expenses to attend science and technology events related to the field of peptide science and the theme of SNOOPY.

Dissemination Grants support the visibility and impact of the COST Action by funding conference presentations. They aim to promote research findings, facilitate knowledge exchange, and enhance the outreach of SNOOPY. Alignment with the Science Communication Plan of the COST Action and Expected impact to the COST Action should be clearly described in the application form.

The maximum financial support per conference is €2500 (in person event).

Proposals will be evaluated monthly on a rolling basis.

Conferences cannot overlap between grant periods and the report must have been submitted and accepted before the end of the grant period (i.e. October 31st of each year).

An applicant must have a profile on the e-COST platform to prepare and submit the application. The SNOOPY ITC, YRI & Dissemination Grant application form will be available for download after you have registered your application in the e-COST platform.

Please include all of the following information and supporting documents:

  1. Application form, which describes the relevance of the conference topic to the Action and description of the applicant’s motivation to participate in the conference and potential impact on the applicant’s career. Pease include a brief explanation and justification for how the budget will be spent. For Dissemination Grants only: Description on how the conference presentation contributes to the Action Science Communication Plan, and description of the expected impact to increase the Action’s visibility in the research community.
  2. Acceptance letter from the conference organizers
  3. Copy of the abstract of the accepted oral (or poster, for YRI only) presentation.

Note: The grant will be issued after the conference and only if the recipient submits a brief report and proof of attendance. It is the applicant’s responsibility to apply before the closing of the registration and abstract submission deadline of the conference.
